All I want for Christmas is a fabulous wardrobe

Christmas is just round the corner. It’s one of the most awaited times of the year and also the busiest. The social calendar is filled with parties, dinners, gifts exchanging, church service, get togethers with family, friends and work place colleagues. It’s time to get into the Christmas spirit and give your wardrobe some holiday cheer. Read on to find out how to look great from head to toe this festive season.

1. Festive hairstyles:

The right hairstyle can really elevate your party look by several notches. Its time to experiment with a variety of cute and festive hairstyles to look your best. Be it braids, an updo, a sleek ponytail, or loose hair with cute clips and bands. It all depends on your personal taste and preference and the occasion in question. A dinner, party, or a casual gift exchanging at home with family, these hairstyles will make you stand out.

2. Make up:

As important it is to get your hair, outfit and accessories right for the Christmas party, its equally important to get your makeup right. Metallic and smokey eye-shadows, winged style eyeliners and red or fuchsia lipsticks are majorly in this season and look great without being too loud. Also, choosing the right foundation is very important. It shouldn’t be too light or too dark,  but the closest to your skin tone. Whether you like a subtle and minimal look via a pale pink gloss or a pop of colour via a red lipstick or a dramatic look via a smoky eye-shadow  you’ve sure got loads of make up options to help you look ‘oh so gorgeous’ this Christmas!

3. Deck the nails:

Christmas manicures are a lot of fun. It’s time to get in the holiday spirit and what better way to show your festive flair than by decking out your nails in creative designs? Whether you opt for a simple accent nail or prefer gobs of glitter over every nail, there are a gazillion designs you can try!

4. Christmas jumpers:

No matter what people say, I think Christmas jumpers are super cute. It is no longer a fashion faux pas to wear one of these knits. Now, I’m not suggesting you go all overboard and don one of those typical and garish multi-coloured, multi-printed 80’s style Christmas jumpers. The minimalistic ones are best. Its all about letting loose and having fun. So you can see that when it comes to getting dressed up for Christmas, festive knitwear is all the rage again - in the best possible way. Whether you opt for a loud and proud reindeer or something more subtle like a snowflake design, you’ve certainly got plenty to choose from.

5. Dresses:

Finding the perfect Christmas party dress can be quiet stressful. But its Christmas time girls! Think sequins, peplum, lace, pencil and flowy chiffon dresses in beautiful festive colours. There are so many options out there. Check out the black velvet peplum dress (Stella McCartney) in the picture. Throw on a cropped jacket and some gorgeous accessories with it. Perfect for both office and casual parties. However, avoid loud colours and flashy patterns at office parties. Bright colours and sequin dresses can be worn at a party with friends. For a family party, opt for flow chiffon dresses, midi dresses or maxis. So, whatever hue or style of dress you opt for make sure you pair it with appropriate accessories, shoes and jewellery. Do not match everything in the same colour. Nor try to look like a Christmas tree (too many different colours and over accessorizing) Big no-no! Remember simple, subtle and elegant is best.

6. Shoes:

Shoes. Sigh! Don’t we all love em’? Shopping for a killer pair of heels for a Christmas party becomes even more delightful. Coz there are endless styles to opt for. Pumps, wedges, peep-toes, mary-janes, stilettos  ankle boots, heel-less shoes (A rage this season!)…. you name it. The right pair of shoes can really elevate your outfit. So choosing the perfect one is very important considering your outfit, occasion and taste. Whether you prefer a pop of colour via bright red pumps, a dash of sparkle and shine via glitter wedges or metallic peep-toes or a subtle look via nude pumps… you know you can never run out of styles.

7. All that glitters are gold and diamonds:

There are many options to accessorize outfits for fun casual wear or for an elegant party during the holiday season. Novelty Christmas jewellery like snowflake designs, holly leaves, candy canes rings and earrings are fun and are great for getting into the festive mood. Or if you want something more formal yet festive you can opt for emerald, ruby and gold jewellery. Whether it’s vintage or modern tribal, a classic or statement piece, it’s hard to go wrong with jewellery. However, avoid over accessorizing. Don’t mix all the jewellery pieces in one look. Big no-no! One statement piece of jewellery is enough to make an impact.

8. Clutch-bags:
You’ve got your perfect Christmas dress, shoes and jewellery and all you need to finish off your perfect party outfit is a fabulous clutch bag. A necessary finishing touch to any ensemble that will keep all of your essentials in place, this season the clutch selection is more extensive than ever. The hottest styles are sequinned, metallic, glitter and bright coloured clutch bags. Choose the one which best suits the occasion, your tastes and needs. Opt for neutral colours for office parties and go blingy and colourful for casual parties.

So, follow this Christmas style guide, dress impeccably and stay uber glam coz ‘tis the season to shine like a star! Merry Christmas!
